Eläkeläiset sind die „größte Humppa-Band der Welt“. Das sagen sie selbst – und wer würde da widersprechen? In ihrer Heimat Finnland sind die „Rentner“ längst eine Kult-Institution, deren Alben regelmäßig ganz vorne in den Charts landen. Aber auch hierzulande hat die Band eine beeindruckend große und vor allem treue Fangemeinde.
Die Anzahl ihrer Veröffentlichungen? Unzählig! Sogar eine DVD wurde in Finnland mit Gold ausgezeichnet.
Ihr erster Deutschland-Auftritt fand vor über 30 Jahren statt – am 2. März 1996 im Juz Rostock.
